Beach Re-Nourishment Starts on Hollywood Beach
It looks like Hollywood Beach is in for a sandy face-lift.
The Beach re-nourishment project began December 1, 2011 and is slated to run through February 2012.
What is beach re-nourishment?
Well in this case, its adding back sand to the beach.
Lots and Lots of sand!
Apparently to the tune of some $3.6 Million dollars worth.
Our sources tell us that when operating, the project has 50 trucks on the move at one time. Some making 2 or even 3 trips a day to an area north of Lake Okeechobee where they retrieve the sand and back down to its final destination on Hollywood beach. It is a rather impressive operation.
These photos were taken December 2, 2011.
We will keep you posted on the progress as the projects moves south closer to the Johnson St. area.
